The Western Illinois University Union Board put together a spectacular free party for Macomb residents and Western students alike last Friday night in the University Union.
WestFest, an all night extravaganza, featured free movies, bowling, video games and many other activities.
It started at 7 p.m. and continued late into the night as students poured in for the festivities.
The two movies shown were "Monsters Vs. Aliens" for the younger children in attendance and "The Hangover" for college students.
Both were well received, and the theater was close to packed for "The Hangover." Movies weren't the only thing offered, though.
A video game room was set up as well, complete with an NES, a Super Nintendo and multiple Wiis.
A slow trickle of students constantly filtered through the room, and at least two of the consoles were in use all night.
There were also a few craft activities available, such as making personalized street signs and creating aquariums from scratch.
The free bowling was also extremely popular, and throughout the night almost every lane was in constant use.
Later in the night, after the movies ended, the UUB brought in pizza and everyone was invited to partake.
The night closed with a musical performance from local band Hey Monea, and they gathered a sizable crowd as they played.
This WestFest was a great success, so watch for flyers on campus and in town for information on the next one.
