Issue date: 10/28/09 Section: Opinion
I feel the article posted in the Courier last week in regards to the BSA Homecoming was very hurtful and disrespectful. Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion but to what extent? If you do not like the choice in music, DO NOT BUY THE TICKET!
BSA puts on their Homecoming show to make students who like "that type of music" to have a good time!
Only one time a year does the WIU campus have any 'hip hop" events but not every year does BSA bring in hip hop artists. For the record BSA participated in the campus wide Homecoming events throughout the week and still had time to put together and excellent show.
I know lots of people who went to the concert and after parties and acknowledged that they had a good time. There was a comment in the article saying concert was "raunchy". What's the difference if we were to go watch a raunchy movie? We're in college and all adults to handle that type of scenery.
I do know...that I ENJOYED myself Homecoming weekend. I'm proud of BSA and all of the hard work they put into this Homecoming. BSA made history by selling out all of their Union Party tickets and by getting Trey Songz to even come here. I know as well as others that Trey is a very busy man. I would like to thank BSA for making this one of the Homecomings I will never forget!
