This is not only a Macomb issue, but a National issue. Somewhere along the line we have have lost our moral compass as well as teaching our youth respect and boundaries. We as a country have rules of law for the greater good of the community. We send our young men and woman to war to fight for our American way of life. We have a police force to make sure our laws are enforced. It is not unreasonable to expect common courtesy, common sense as well as a law abiding community. Communities must work together to solve problems, and I think Mr. Hinderliter has the right idea of including all parties in the conversation to improve the situation.

I have lived in Macomb since 1967. So I have been around this town for 42 years. I am a graduate of WESTERN. GOOOO Leathernecks!!

Clay Hinderliter does not speak for me. We all have to be thankful that he is not the "King" of Macomb. That would be a horrible thing!!

All people need to respect each other. Plain and simple!

-Macomb Resident Since 1967

Just because you do not agree with someone's solution to an obvious problem is no reason to attack the person himself. If you were to bother to think logically, you would see some merit of Mr. Hinderliter's course of reasoning. Criticize the ideas, or at least have some backing for spewing insults. The only one coming off as a "hillbilly" here is you, Mr. Huber. What's more, he is a member of the community's leadership, being a councilman and deserves respect whether you agree with him or not. If you think your ideas are so much better, please feel free to run for a similar position. Macomb existed before the University, and both exist in a symbiotic relationship. In a community such as this, communication and civil discourse is crucial. But while there is typical "college life" students need to have more respect for themselves as well as their local neighbors and behave in a civil manner while still having youthful fun. Why shouldn't the University and local establishments help support responsible entertaining?

-Lindsey

This town did exist and would continue to exist, albet in a much different form, without the university. That being said, there is no reason to believe we'll need to find out either way for some time.

Mr. Hinderliter is no "hillbilly". He is a businessman, public servant and committed to his area... for more than four or five years at a time, unlike many of our short-term residents.
