Dear WC Editorial Board,
I noticed two aspects of Monday's column ("If we would've won it", Oct. 5) that really made me question whether any of you do any editing at all. You say "The last time the Olympics were hosted by the United States was in 1996. O.J. Simpson was on trial for the alleged murder of his wife." First, perhaps you forgot the 2002 Winter Olympics were held in Salt Lake City, Utah (if you meant Summer Olympics you should have said so). Second, the Simpson trial was held in 1995, not 1996. I won'*t even go into your overly Utopian outlook on what would have happened had Chicago hosted the games.
It would be a lot easier to take your views seriously if you could check your facts and your writing. It's called proofreading. Look into it.

Recently in News Bites I saw an ad for Trailer Trash Bash on October 10th at The Forum. Last year the "festivities" included a $200 1st place prize for Jello wrestling and a $100 1st place prize for best Daisy Dukes.
Sadly, this type of behavior is both degrading and debasing of women and the men who participate. Moreover, just the title of the event is cruel and hurtful.
Our community is made up of a variety of different people from a variety of backgrounds and social classes. Many of our community members live in trailer parks. No member of our community, or for that matter any human being, should be referred to as trash.
I ask that we examine our hearts and consciences and consider whether we should patronize such a business, or any other business connected to it.
