ot only has the fall semester begun but the fall season for the boxing world is going to be full of great fights and interesting matchups.
These upcoming fights will not only have an affect this fall, but will also hold some intriguing cards for the spring of 2010.
Floyd "Money" Mayweather 39-0 (25 KOs) vs Juan Manuel Marquez 50-4-1 (37 KOs)
This is the first fight to kick off the fall line-up and it will be fascinating to see how Mayweather performs after his nearly two year lay off from the sport. There is a lot of anticipation for this bout. The fight is set for September 19 in Las Vegas at a catch weight of 144 pounds and many are predicting another Mayweather victory.
The most important thing for Marquez to do is control the pace of the fight and look to counter, which is one of his strengths. This will be very difficult in the later rounds, but Marquez has proven he can maintain his energy throughout the fight. So it will be essential for him to start early and control the pace throughout the match.
The outcome may be closer than one would think. Marquez has tremendous heart and toughness in the ring and will not be an easy opponent. However, in the end Mayweather will capture the victory. Although he has been away from the game for quite some time he is still the most savvy, intelligent fighter in the ring and that will be his key to success.
Manny Pacquiao 49-3-2 (37 KOs) vs Miguel Cotto 35-1 (27 KOs)
This is definitely going to be an action-packed fight. Pacquiao is coming off the destruction of Ricky Hatton in May and Cotto is coming off a not so impressive performance against Joshua Clottey in June. Although he escaped with a victory, he did little to enhance his reputation as a dominant fighter.
This bout will take place on November 14. Cotto showed some weaknesses against Clottey and Pacquiao jumped at the chance to take on the pride of Puerto Rico. Pacquiao is a world-beater right now and is regarded as the pound-for-pound best in the sport today. He has shown maturity in his approach and has really adjusted to the rise in weight classes.

You dont know what you're talking about. Mayweather will lose hands down he's old news. Pavlik will destroy Williams and if Mayweather fights Pacquiao, Pacquiao will knock him out in three rounds. (Continued…)
