Fifteen teams will compete at the Harry Mussatto Golf Course in the 37th annual Beu/Mussatto Invitational Monday and Tuesday, April 20-21.
The tournament is scheduled for 54 holes - 36 Monday and 18 Tuesday - with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on both days. The tournament field consists of seven Division I teams, including Summit League members IUPUI and South Dakota State, along with four NAIA teams, three Division III teams and two community colleges.
Western Illinois enters the tournament as the four-time defending champion. The Leathernecks will field two five-player teams in the event, as well as having players compete as individuals.
"It's always fun to play at home in front of friends and family that normally wouldn't have the opportunity to come and watch," said Western Illinois coach Mel Blasi. "It's also a great opportunity to compete on our home golf course, the one that we play and practice on day in and day out."
The Beu/Mussatto Invitational marks the Leathernecks' final tournament before heading to the Summit League Championship 27-28 in Kansas City, Mo. Coming off a win at the Branson Creek Invitational and a third place finish at the Hoosier Invitational, Blasi said the team is playing with confidence.
"Playing in a tournament at home is a perfect opportunity to continue to get better and prepare for the Summit Championships next week in Kansas City," he said.
