The Western Illinois women's tennis team will host the final Summit League cluster as it looks to qualify for its third-straight Summit League championship, with four matches scheduled for April 17-19 at the varsity courts next to Western Hall.

The cluster will feature six different Summit League teams (Western, Oakland, UMKC, Centenary, South Dakota State and Oral Roberts), with a pair of matches to be played at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on each of the three days. The Westerwinds (10-10, 3-1 Summit League) are scheduled to play four matches with a doubleheader set for Saturday, April 18.

Western kicks off cluster play with a 9 a.m. match against South Dakota State Friday, April 17. The Jackrabbits are currently two matches below .500 at 6-8 on the season and are sitting at 1-3 in league play. Their lone Summit League win came against IUPUI, 6-1, in Kansas City, Mo.

The two teams met up in a cluster in Fort Wayne, Ind., last season with the Westerwinds taking a 4-0 decision. After winning the doubles point, sophomore Kate Kennedy and junior Stephanie Baumer each blanked their respective opponents a year ago, picking up 6-0, 6-0 wins. Junior Courtney Brooks also picked up a singles win at the No. 6 position.

Saturday's matches will feature a doubleheader for Western, with the first match to be played against defending regular season and tournament champions Oral Roberts at 9 a.m. The Golden Eagles enter the cluster with a league record equal to the Westerwinds at 3-1, their lone loss coming to IPFW, 4-2, who has finished league play unblemished at 8-0. Western faced off against Oral Roberts twice last season, falling 4-2 in regular season play.

The two points came from junior Yana Meinert at No. 6 singles, defeating Mollee Carpenter, 6-1, 6-2 and from senior Zi Wang at No. 3 singles over Stacy Lish, 6-3, 6-1. The two teams also met in the semifinal round of last year's Summit League championship with the Golden Eagles escaping with a 4-1 win, the lone point coming from taking two out of three doubles matches.
