Western Illinois golfers Becky Allen and Kyle Peterman have been named the women's and men's Golfers of the Week by The Summit League.

Allen earned the honor after picking up her first career individual win while leading the Westerwinds to their third team win of the 2008-09 season at the Park University Invitational Monday and Tuesday, April 13-14.

The senior tied a season-best round of 78 in the first round of the Park Invite followed by a 79 in the second round to tally 157, beating out the nearest competition by three strokes. Allen carries a season stroke average of 81.9 per round.

Peterman shot a three-round 215 (72-71-72) at the Hoosier Invite Saturday and Sunday, April 11-12, to take ninth place individually and lead the Leathernecks to a share of third place.

The tournament marked Peterman's fifth top-10 individual finish, and the junior has placed among the top 15 in eight of Western's nine tournaments during the 2008-09 season. He leads the team with a stroke average of 73.7 per round.

Both Allen and Peterman have now been named player of the week twice throughout their careers, both players also earned the distinction last year. Allen is the only Westerwind to be named player of the week this season while Brian Scott earned the honor for the men's team earlier this spring.

Allen will next lead the Westerwinds into the Summit League Championships April 20-21 in Rochester, Mich. while Peterman and the Leathernecks welcome 15 teams to Macomb during the same days for the Beu/Mussatto Invitational.
