Ragee-Nelson named Summit Player of the Week

After picking up three singles wins over the weekend and extending his singles winning streak to five matches, Western Illinois senior Sean Ragee-Nelson earned his second Summit League Player of the Week award of the season.
The Decatur, Ill. native claimed the weekly award after collecting three singles victories, all in straight sets, and a doubles win over the weekend. In singles play, Ragee-Nelson defeated Jorge Palacios of Southwest Baptist, 6-4, 6-3, at the No. 5 position and followed that victory up with a 6-3, 6-4, win over Grand Valley State's Phil Claus at No. 3 and a 6-4, 6-3, triumph over Chicago State's Ivan Mojsejev.
He also teamed with Neil Lesinski at the No. 2 doubles position for an 8-4 win over the St. Ambrose duo of Medchill/Vretis.
Ragee-Nelson's three singles victories extended his winning streak to five and improved his season total to a team-best 10 wins.
He helped the Leathernecks pick up a pair of wins over the weekend and improve the team's record to 6-15.
Ragee-Nelson and the rest of the Leathernecks return to action today against Saint Louis at 3 p.m. at the varsity courts at Brophy Hall before heading to Fort Wayne, Ind., for their final Summit League cluster of the season.
