Senior Kim Lennartsson pulled in wins in both singles and doubles, but it wasn't enough as the Western Illinois women's tennis team fell to in-state rival Bradley, 4-3, at The Clubs at River City.

"This was our best match so far this season," said Western Illinois head coach Michael Hunt. "Everyone really fought hard and we gave ourselves a chance to win. If we can make this our baseline and work to improve from here then we'll be in the mix for conference."

Tied at 3-3, the match came down to the No. 3 singles, where Bradley's Veronika Wojakowski narrowly defeated senior Zi Wang in a third-set tiebreaker, picking up the win 6-7 (1), 6-3, 7-6 (3).

Junior Amanda Griffin won her third-straight singles match at No. 1, beating Nicole Miller, 6-4, 6-2. Lennartsson picked up her singles win by defeating Emily Regenold in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6 (7). The Westerwinds (1-4) also picked up a singles win from junior Yana Meinert (No. 6, 6-0, 7-5).

In doubles action, Lennartsson teamed with sophomore Kate Kennedy at No. 2 doubles to down the Braves' team of Wojakowski and Jessica Buterbaugh, 8-3.

Western remains on the road and will face DePaul on Saturday, March 7.
