Hello, Western Illinois University, it's Chuck. I don't think I have to tell you: it's Valentine's Day (or it's right around the corner). I am at your door/on your coffee table/in your armpit/in the Courier newsstand with a dozen roses, a heart tin of chocolates and a smile waiting for you. I'm wearing that sweater you got me last week. No, seriously, I love how the brown and purple stripes compliment each other. I thought we could take a walk, and be all cute. We could watch the sunset in each other's arms and whisper sweet nothings in each other's ears. I have chosen five songs that describe my feelings for you, a sort of romantic playlist. I brought it along for our saunter. Let's show the public what love is all about, with a bud in each ear (my right and your left), hand in hand, and share this Valentine's Day together.

Here is playlist #2.1, entitled "Our Valentine's Day Experience."

"Love You Madly" - Cake, from the album "Comfort Eagle."

Admittedly, I first heard this song on the movie "Forgetting Sarah Marshall." After downloading and listening to it for a while, I thought this song was a great fit for preparing romantic gestures. I played this song really loud (repeatedly) while making you dinner on our first date (which resulted a call to the fire department).

"A Sunday Kind Of Love" - Etta James, from the album "At Last."

In the vending machine that distributes the various kinds of love (I think it's located in Morgan Hall), this is my favorite snack. I would have this kind of love over all the rest.

"I Want You But I Don't Need You" - Amanda Palmer (originally by Momus).

You can find this live version on YouTube. I saw this song in concert and thought it was a good definition of what love really was, kind of defining need versus want. I'm just putting my heart up that flagpole. I don't need you to salute it, but it would be nice if you did.

"Bed Of Dreams" - Home Town Hero, from the album "Home Town Hero."
