Some people are stupid - just plain stupid. It's not a jab or an insult, but a fact.

An endless amount of people at this university seem to think they (but most likely their mommy or daddy) are paying to be on vacation as opposed to at an institution that is supposed to propel them to a higher place in the world.

It's one thing to have a good time when the situation allows for it, but too many people put too much stock in clichéd lines such as "Wasted Wednesdays."

Perhaps I am in an odd boat; I care about my education and strive to get A's. Meanwhile, it seems that half the school is in the "D's get degrees" mindset.

Things like "Oh you actually went to class today, I had to pinch myself," are muttered too frequently. Tehe, haha; but the sad fact is that it's true.

Everywhere I look I seem to see bad life choices, and I don't think I'm the only one. I've had professors crack that they love exam days because their class size always doubles. Twenty minutes later, a person who I have not seen enough to remember walks out, most likely to skip his next class and continue to waste his tuition money.

The money that we pay into this school should be seized, not wasted. It's almost as if people think they get a tuition reimbursement if they skip enough classes. Well it's not the school that pays - it's them.

"You know, I learned something this semester. If I actually go to class, I can pass them," is a remark I think I overheard. I say think, because even though I know I heard it, I had to ponder for a moment about whether or not this person could possibly be uttering the obvious correlation between learning the material and passing a test.

Then there is the group of people who seem to spend more time futzing with the margins of their papers than they do actually writing them.

Now I understand procrastination as much as the next guy, but when a person is trying to develop a science to tricking the professor as opposed to just taking the time to complete the assignment, there has to be something wrong in his or her head.

Apparently, many people just do not care. They will barely succeed in obtaining a diploma or just drop out once they find a construction job that opens up.

It's a shame that so many of us waste a chance at a higher education, but at our age, there is nothing that can really be done to change anything.

The college student is done with high school handholding, and is instead left to rise to the challenge, or make a fool out of themselves in the eyes of those who can see the true value of an education.
