Most Influential Movies of the 90's

"Reality Bites" - A scary but often true story for the '90s generation: graduating college and joining the real world in a post-Reagan era. Full of '90s lingo and an inside look at how MTV truly affected an entire generation, but not for the better.

"Dazed and Confused" - A teenage classic, showing us what the world would have been like had we kept the drinking age at 18. It showed the evil side of high school power trips, hazing and that guy that never graduated. Not to mention it has a classic soundtrack that makes us all feel like we were young in the '70s.

"Clerks" - This first Kevin Smith movie introduced us to the lovable characters Jay and Silent Bob that went on to control the '90s and '00s with such movies as "Chasing Amy," "Dogma" and "Mallrats."

"Clueless" - A defining movie of the '90s, this film captured a lifestyle we wish we had, full of superficial problems of high school romances and ruined Prada shoes.

"Lion King" - The Disney movie that rocked the world. Loved by kids of all ages, this Disney adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth will definitely be something we pass down to our children and grandchildren. The first tragedy many of us knew as little ones was the devastating loss of Mufasa.

"Titanic" - An obvious choice, if anything for the fact that more people saw this movie than any other in history when it first came out. It will go down in history not just for its heartbreaking storyline, but for its cinematographic genius that was unprecedented.

"Braveheart" - The second film Mel Gibson directed. It's a story of love, passion, anger and a will that can never be broken.

"Forrest Gump" - Quoted over and over for 15 years, everyone knows the story of Forrest Gump and everyone dreams to be as positive and hopeful as him.

"10 Things I Hate About You" - Since the '80s, Generation X-ers were looking for their time to shine a movie that captured their lifestyles the way "Sixteen Candles" and "Reality Bites" did for generations before. This was the first in a long slew of epic teen classics.

I'll give you credit...that's a fairly comprehensive list. Arguments could be made one way or the other, but I think you found an ideal medium.

Instead of 10 Things I Hate About You, you should have had American Pie. (Continued…)

Worst list ever. I don't even know where to start with this one. Either way, you have no idea what you are talking about, nor does the above poster. And by the way, the song in Fight Club is "Where is Mind" not "Gigantic". (Continued…)

I thought this debate was about them, as opposed to featuring them. Whoops.
