Eve 6 and The Graduate are returning to school
Issue date: 10/8/08 Section: The Edge
Western Hall will play host to Eve 6 and opening act The Graduate on Friday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. to kick off Western Illinois University's Homecoming weekend. ?
This is not the first time Eve 6 has brought its infectious alternative rock sound to Macomb. The band opened for Third Eye Blind as part of the MTV Campus Invasion Tour at Western Illinois 10 years ago. ?
Eve 6 is known largely for their 1998 party anthem "Inside Out" and 2001 graduation ballad "Here's to the Night." The band broke up in 2004, but singer/bassist Max Collins and drummer Tony Fagenson reunited Eve 6 with replacement guitarist Matt Bair in October of 2007. ?
The trio has been touring since the reunion and has announced they will be making a new album, though the band has not released any new music since 2003. ?
The Graduate is an up-and-coming band that has found limited success opening for various acts in the U.S. and Europe. The five-member rock band has released two short EPs and one full-length album and was named "Spin" magazine's Band of the Day on April 6, 2007. ?
Like a musical phoenix, The Graduate formed in 2005 after the breakup of two central Illinois bands: Best of Winter, from Quincy, and Jack, from Springfield. ?
Tickets to the Oct. 17 show are $10 for students and $15 for non-students before the show and $15 for students and $20 for non-students at the door. Tickets can be bought in the Hainline Theatre Box office. For more information on Eve 6 and The Graduate, go to www.eve6.com and www.wearethegraduate.com.
