Palin digs deeper hole
Issue date: 10/6/08 Section: Opinion
"Darn right; we can learn a heckuva lot of good information from this financial bailout. Oh, I betcha we definitely could. On that note, I'd like to give a shout-out to my bestest BFF Jill over in Alaska, who I've known since I was in, like, the second grade (wink)."
The preceding could very well be a statement from our potential future president.
Does that scare you? It should.
The Sarah Palin/Joe Biden vice-presidential debate, which aired last Thursday, showed exactly why an America run by McCain/Palin would be disastrous for the country.
Palin avoided any and all topics she didn't know anything about. When Biden asked about McCain's record of consistently voting in favor of deregulation, which is at the root of this stock market debacle, Palin essentially said she wouldn't answer the question the way he wanted her to and decided to play moderator and talk about energy since that's the only thing she really is knowledgeable about.
How is this person equipped to be president if she is unable to even debate about, much less run, the most powerful country in the world?
She also used of a lot of "down-home" phrases in order to appeal to voters. While this is cute and fun, it's not presidential and certainly not accurate to the lifestyle Palin leads.
Palin is the Governor of Alaska. She's not a senator from Alaska or even a member of the House of Representatives - she's just a governor. We might as well have the governator, Arnold Schwarzenegger, be vice president. At least he'd answer the questions.
The lowest point was Palin's shout-out to third graders. It was a cute tactic to tug at the hearts of American voters, but it was wholly unprofessional and completely unpresidential.
Elections are often described to be popularity contests. Typically, elections have consisted of platforms about serious topics, but the McCain/Palin ticket is hoping voters will forget McCain's incomprehensible actions during the beginning of the bailout and be charmed by the praise and popularity Palin is receiving.
The presidency and vice presidency are the two most powerful positions in the world, and for the past eight years, the world has thought of America as a joke. It's hard to imagine, but America could become even more of a joke if the McCain/Palin ticket wins.
Does a world leader really want to enter the White House and feel like he or she has walked on the set of TRL hosted by that cop from "Fargo?"
"Your country really needs to take it easy on that other country, okie-dokey? So, to apologize, just give them a shout-out real quick."
America needs to be represented by a serious, calm and collected leader who'll think things through before acting and be able to explain his/her actions to the American people in a thoughtful, articulate manner.

This article is blunt and right on point. Palin seems barely qualified, based on her education background and intellectual capacity, to be a stewardess! The sexy winks and "Joe Six Pack" baloney she put on display during the recent debate had me reaching for the barf bag. (Continued…)

Palin has the nerve to talk about Obama - when she infact is one step away from being a felon. Troopergate, tax evasion, witchcraft. This is the best John McCain could do????

Palin should not be vice president for the following reasons:
- she is woefully uninformed. She could not name a single newspaper she reads in the Couric interview, and didn't know what the Bush doctrine was
- she is anti-environment, and has said global warming is not man made
- she is anti-choice
- she is a corrupt, pork barrel politician who DID support the bridge to Nowhere and took millions more in the kind of pork she's been railing against in her speeches. (Continued…)

Respondents to the opinion on Palin above unstable their illogical misogynist elitist tyrranical ideas in their comments, just like the unnamed writer of the original editorial. (Continued…)
