Better yet, let's ask Better yet, let's ask another question. What constricts us, as a society, to think that way? Why do we cringe at the thought of some loving family enjoying a delicious, barbecued Golden Retriever together on a lovely, sunny summer afternoon? Why does that bother us, not as individuals, but as citizens and denizens of Western culture? At the same time, why are we content to remain in ignorance on how our food is prepared behind sealed walls, among other issues at hand?cringe at the thought of some loving family enjoying a delicious, barbecued Golden Retriever together on a lovely, sunny summer afternoon? The art of exploration and questioning seems lost on many people. Our culture supports mass individuality on the group level, but those engaging in the practice fail to take that final step. They fail to question, to use logic and to think. Is it really an acceptable response? Can I trust that reasoning? Is it really that logical?
This is just something to ponder as one is spoon-fed an empty, heavily commercialized set of societal values that may not truly add up. After all, isn't it the Food and Drug Administration's job look into the safety of the American consumer? So, shouldn't our food be healthy and safe to eat? Shouldn't our drugs be tested long enough to have no damaging effects?
Is your head swimming yet? If so, it will be fine in just a moment. In the meantime, treat yourself to something. You deserve it.
