Please know that certain individuals in Macomb are trying to take advantage of you. My coworkers, friends, and I have personally witnessed and experienced these attempts. Using cover stories such as, "My spouse just received a DUI and I can only get $200 out of the ATM…" the individual claims desperate need for money - a "loan" that could get them out of a tight bind for which they would forever be grateful.
I personally know this individual, who promised to repay me - I still refused. A few weeks later, my unsuspecting friends did not know this person, and have yet to see repayment for their kind-heartedness. While common sense may cause one person to turn the other way, a charitable heart or soft conscience may feel the need to help.
This is understandable, but PLEASE use discretion and your best judgment. There was never any DUI, and something tells me there never will be. Do not let this person, or any other, take advantage of your charity. If any individual approaches you, asking for a helping hand, and you feel the need - pay their cab fare or offer to make a phone call for them. Help them in a way that does not include emptying your wallet or put you at risk. This particular individual is on the move and cannot be found.
If someone confronts you with this or any other story of despair, please be careful. Your own safety and well-being should come first.

I was approached with a similar story on 3/27 in the parking lot of HyVee sometime between 8pm and 10pm. The man was middle aged, dark hair, and Caucasian. (Continued…)
