Editor's note: The following letter is in response to "Kids have a heart," by Alisha Cowan, which ran in the Nov. 28 issue of the WC.
I am writing in response to "Kids Have a Head Start". This article implies that child care in Macomb is easy to come by. I am a senior set to graduate in May but after this December have no child care for my 6 month old son. I am on waiting lists all over town and have been on the WIU daycare waiting list since before my son was even born. A recent phone call to Wiu revealed that I am number 15 on the list, and it's not looking good. I think it is unfair that the center is open to nonstudents as childcare, like in my case, could mean the difference between graduating or not.
