Among his many achievements at Western, Maguire earned the national Council for Advancement and Support of Education Grand Award in 1982 for improvement in overall advancement. He also earned University Relations a CASE bronze medal in 1985 for radio programming and a silver medal in 1991 for school and college partnerships. Beginning Nov. 19, Maguire will launch a new career as director of public relations and fund development with McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
"As I look forward to a new career in a similar field, McDonough District Hospital is an outstanding service provider for our community and especially Western employees and students. As a lifelong resident of Macomb, it is a good fit for me professionally and personally," he said.

In recognition of Maguire's work with the university, his retirement reception has been scheduled in the University Union Lamoine Room for Nov. 14 from 4 to 6 p.m.
