At the newly revamped restaurant The Islands, located on West Jackson Street, the owners say they are planning ahead for live entertainment. Slated to begin in mid-October, entertainment on the restaurant's stage will include local bands and adult-oriented comedians.
Movie lovers should head to Macomb's Twin Cinema to catch the newest releases. Enjoy pizza afterward at Godfather's Pizza, located on the same lot. For those who like artful cinema, each week on Wednesdays and Thursdays this cinema shows an installment of its "International Film Series."
For those interested in a home-viewing experience, Family Video can be found just north of the Square, while Hy-Vee possesses a more limited, but often rotating, selection of DVDs for rental and purchase.
If relaxing with a book or conversation is your cup of tea - or coffee - visit Adams Street Coffee, The Little Java House on West Jackson or Sullivan-Taylor Coffee House on the Square. If you dig the complete coffee house scene, including live music, you might enjoy the atmosphere of Cafe Aroma, run by members of the Vineyard Community Church.
Those amused or enthralled by the idea of a "sixth sense" may wish to have their palms or futures read by Jen Marks, whose practice is located on East Jackson.
Bingo can be fun for both young and old and is played every Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. at the American Legion, next to the Post Office. Cash prizes are awarded to winners, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments are available at the bar.
To increase enjoyment of one's own home, The Phoenix, located on Adams Street, Rockin' Records, north of the Square, and Capitol Music on the Square all sell CDs, DVDs, LPs, posters and more.
