PETA: an animal's worst nightmare and enemy

Wes Heinkel

Issue date: 2/7/07 Section: Opinion
Clearly, quite a bit of that money is going to other places. For instance, PETA's 2002 federal income-tax return showed a $9,370 claim for a giant walk-in freezer. Knowing that these animal rights extremists don't eat ice cream because it contains dairy, and they don't eat meat because, well, it's meat, I wonder what goes in this huge freezer - euthanized, rotting puppies, anyone? I guess that's more humane than tossing catatonic carcasses into someone else's dumpster. But the group won't shy away from equating animal farmers to cannibalistic serial killer Jeffery Dahmer.

PETA's new and ridiculous crusade targets fishermen. The group has honestly convinced themselves that fish are smart and capable of having personalities like household pets such as dogs and cats. I'll believe that when I can teach my goldfish to roll over and catch a Frisbee. Truth is, fish have a brain the size of a pea and the personality of a 2x4. They use scare tactics concerning health risks of eating fish while the wealth of science believes you should eat fish once a week because many are rich in omega-3 fatty acids that are great for the heart.

In essence, PETA is the biggest farce of all time, promoting the group and its agenda with straw man arguments and playing judge, jury and executioner on animals it swears to protect. I think the members are just jealous of us omnivores; the more animals we kill for the purpose of human survival, the fewer times they can play God for no reason.

PETA wants to spay and neuter animals, but does it ask the animal's opinion on the matter? These people are supposed to be society's voice of compassion for animals. I think they should spay or neuter themselves. At the very least, there would be an increase of moral clarity and a lack of shady inferences in the world. What a bunch of buffoons!

Sadly, there is really nothing we can do to quell these hypocritical loons. But in honor of the PETA trial now underway, I urge all my fellow animal-eaters to sit down and enjoy a nice, juicy steak, some baby-back ribs or whatever you prefer because "there is always room for the creatures on this earth, right next your mashed potatoes!"

PETA, in the words of "Billy Madison": "I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul" - or lack thereof.

America has a serious pet overpopulation problem. Irresponsible people are abandoning their cats and dogs. They aren't getting their animals spayed or neutered. (Continued…)

I hate to break this to you, but the "trial now underway" referenced in this February 7 article ended on February 2, and the defendants were found not guilty of all charges except littering. (Continued…)

This author was so inaccurate from the very beginning, that I could not even force myself to read past the second paragraph. He sounds crazy.

This article is unbelievably disingenuous. It fails to mention that the PETA workers were acquitted of the animal cruelty charges last week. They were convicted of littering (a misdemeanor). (Continued…)

The Center for Consumer Freedom is a front group for alcohol, tabacco, ranching and other interests. They were started with $600,000 in funding from Philip Morris in order to discredit those who criticize the tobacco industry. (Continued…)

I don't understand why people are so threatened by all the good that Peta tries to do. I guess they don't want to be brought out of denial about the fact that there is a disconnect between considering yourself an animal lover because you love cats and dogs, and then turning around and eating other animals that have terrible lives before they are slaughtered in the most inhumane ways possible. (Continued…)

This article is not only mean-spirited and offensive, it's also illogical. The author is against euthanizing unwanted animals, then urges his "fellow animal-eaters to sit down and enjoy a nice, juicy steak, some baby-back ribs or whatever you prefer. (Continued…)

Good job Mr. Heinkel,
The seven previous posters still believe Dorothy and ToTo actually did go to OZ and dance down the yellow brick road. I have followed PETA for more years than most of you have probably been alive. (Continued…)

Extremely misinformed and malicious article, Mr. Heinkel. You should retract this piece of biased garbage and offer an apology to your readers for purposefully misinforming them. (Continued…)

I notice that nor one of the respondents addressed the issue of PETA killing 90% of the animals they take from people, nor of the fact they were caught dumping animals in a dumpster behind a supermarket. (Continued…)
