The Westerwinds (1-4) match up well with the Jayhawks (3-1) in terms of both size and experience. Both teams feature a balanced offensive attack and a majority of minutes coming from underclassmen.
Junior Stephanie Lovingood brings team-leading averages of 13 points and six rebounds into Allen Fieldhouse tonight. However, she will be challenged on both ends of the court by Jayhawks sophomore forward Marija Zinic who also leads her team in the two categories (11.3 points and 6.3 rebounds).
Lovingood, junior forward Jameka McElroy and sophomore forward Nicole Meyers will look to improve on the offensive glass. Western was out-rebounded on the offensive side 47-27 in its three losses over break.
Shooting woes in the exhibition games have made a turn for the better. During the first three games of this road trip, the 'Winds have shot nearly 44 percent (67-154) from the field, but only 28 percent (11-38) from beyond the three-point arc.
Tonight the 'Winds will face the first of two Big 12 opponents this season (Texas A&M). Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
