The Resident Assistant Council of Western Illinois University will be serving its fifth annual turkey dinner at the local Salvation Army for Macomb and the surrounding area's less fortunate residents.

This Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. the dinner will be served in the spirit of Thanksgiving and an attempt to be more involved with the community.

They will be serving food such as turkey, mashed potatoes, other vegetables and pie. There will also be coloring books and crayons for the children.

"We're trying to get at least 100 people this year," said Tyler Rebbe, RA Council president.

Last year the dinner served around 50 local residents.

The dinner will be cooked this Monday, the day before it is served to the public, with RA volunteers. Donations have been given for the dinner from local businesses, including Hy-Vee and Sodexho, the Inter-Hall Council and the Bayliss/Henninger Hall Government.

Currently the dinner has enough donations and volunteers, but Rebbe asks students to get the word out to people who may be interested in the dinner.

"If anyone is looking for rides, they should talk to (University Housing and Dining Services)," Rebbe said.

The Salvation Army is located at 505 N. Randolph St. in Macomb. Any students who are looking for more information should contact UHDS at 309/298-2461.
