Library to extend hours during finals week

Phyllis Self, dean of libraries, said tentative plans are to keep the library open until 2 or 3 a.m. and open at 6 or 7 a.m. The Student Government Association and the Senate passed the resolution for the extended hours at Tuesday night's meeting.
Four students from the Senate were appointed to committees as well. Jose Marroquin, junior law enforcement and justice administration major, was appointed to the Committee of Talent Grants and Tuition Waivers; Tara Short, political science graduate student, was appointed to the Sexual Harassment Task Force; Dave Lenington, senior hotel and restaurant management major, was appointed to the Council of Campus Planning and Usage and Bridget Early, senior political science major, was appointed to the Capital Budget Committee.
Other positions are still available and applications can be found in the Student Organization Center office.
The Board of Trustees will have an open session Friday, Nov. 10 in the University Union Capital Rooms at 9:30 p.m. At this time they will have this first reading of the proposal to switch the holiday from Lincoln's birthday to President's Day.
The BOT will also approve or reject two proposals requiring more than $500,000. Both proposals are for sprinklers in Corbin/Olson to be installed and elevator upgrades in Bayliss and Henniger halls.
"Students should feel free to attend the BOT meetings," said Blake Antonides, student board of trustees member.
SGA members are still selling raffle tickets for their book raffle of five $100 book vouchers from the University Union Bookstore. Each ticket is $1 or six tickets can be purchased for $5. All SGA senators and representatives will be selling tickets around campus until Thanksgiving break. A drawing will be held on Nov. 28 at the SGA meeting to pick winners of the raffle.
