The consequences of George Bush's oil-hungry rage in Iraq are harming no one but our own generation. It is our generation that is fighting and dying over there, and it is our generation that will someday have to figure out a way to get out of the biggest deficit the United States has ever seen. We are going to face a huge, serious problem, and it's not going to be as easy as footing the bill on China.

Along with the war, another thing not voting has done for our generation is cut our Stafford loans. Stafford loans are the low-interest rate loans you receive by filling out your annual FAFSA. This year, George Bush and the Republican House and Senate realized they could find more money for the war and the rich if they stopped giving it to those who didn't vote.

Since we do not vote, why would politicians have to worry about Social Security? They wouldn't - and they don't. It is an issue that is seldom brought up and often dismissed, because it's way easier to save the burden for future generations (i.e. our generation). The only solution that has been raised is privatizing it. Privatizing it would entail gambling your future income away by entering it into the stock market. Sounds pretty secure, huh?

An unnecessary war, unfunded education, cuts in Stafford loans and Social Security are four of the millions of reasons you should register to vote. Our generation is being forgotten and dismissed, and it's time we head to the polls on Nov. 7 to show America that we are sick of our friends dying in Iraq and sick of being left out of the money that we pay into as well. Get motivated, get excited and get out to vote!
