PETA chews out Six Flags over insect eating contest

Jackie Vergerio, spokeswoman for PETA, stated on their Web site, "Six Flags is meant to be a safe place for family fun, not a place to teach children insensitivity to animals."

They're cockroaches! And they're probably killed in one or two chomps. How will a contest like this teach children to treat animals badly? I'm sure the last thing on a kid's mind when re-entering Six Flags will be "Yes, I can't wait to beat the crap out of the wildlife."

Have you ever seen a cockroach in your apartment or residence hall room and decided not to kill it? Did you pick it up and help it to the window? Probably not. You smashed it to smithereens yourself or got someone else to come in and do the dirty work for you.

The Sun-Times got a great quote from Great America PR Manager Jim Taylor, claiming that people should know roaches are high in protein and fat-free. Though hilarious and true, he's forgetting a more practical response: they're roaches. Animal Planet's Web site even states that cockroaches and crickets are used when feeding some species of birds. See? Being eaten is their destiny.

So, sit on that for a while, PETA. Apparently you have no problem if people starve themselves to keep the pigs, cows and chickens alive, but what about other animals? Should we starve certain species of birds because the insects they eat have now fallen under your protective wing? It's time for PETA to take a look back on their actions and admit they have pushed the limit.

People in Ethiopia Do not Eat "BUGS". If they do! They would never be starved to death. Ethiopians rather die than eating any bugs, shell fish including your fine food "Lobster" or Pork and reptiles. (Continued…)

She made a mistake, lets crucify her! First of all she did not say Ethopians and Sudanese ate bugs as a insult. Second it could be worse, she could have said these people ate shit as sustinence. (Continued…)

Animal Planet tells you lots of things. This is where I learned this fact. I think it's cool, which is why I put it in my article, not to insult anyone. (Continued…)
