A haze of uncertainty still shrouds the Horrabin Hall robbery that occurred April 19. It was reported that $649 in cash, a digital camera and a camcorder were stolen from the Horrabin Hall preschool office. Currently no arrests have been made.

Office of Public Safety Director Robert Fitzgerald said cameras were recovered outside of the building later that night, but other than that he had no new information.

Ann Curtis, director of the Horrabin Hall Infant and Preschool Center, divulged more details of the incident.

"When the robbery was first discovered, the room was trashed," Curtis said. "File cabinet drawers were slung open and the office was a mess"

Curtis said she suspects the burglar or burglars came into the building through a side door located by the playground. Curtis said by the looks of things, it appeared to be done by someone who was familiar with the building.

"Anybody that comes into the preschool can see into the office," Curtis said. "They definitely knew what they were looking for. That security box was hidden well."

Curtis said the parents who had checks in the stolen security box were quickly alerted and told to notify their banks about the robbery.

"Luckily, (the robbery occurred) the day before we deposited money," Curtis said. "They did not get as much money as they could have."

The incident has resulted in heightened awareness at the Infant Center.

"We are going to take more precautions now," Curtis said. "We do not want this to happen again."

OPS is conducting an investigation and items from the office have been taken as evidence.
