Recently, President George W. Bush released his second National Security Strategy. The NSS asserts, "The advance of freedom and human dignity through democracy is the long-term solution to the transnational terrorism of today."
It is important the American people realize that Operation Iraqi Freedom is important to our national security and we cannot cut and run. But public support has been in a decline because of many who are trying to play the role of Walter Cronkite, Jane Fonda and Eugene McCarthy, who lost the Vietnam War for America.
Townhall.com columnist David Limbaugh wrote, "The inescapable truth is that we are at war against an enemy that cannot beat us militarily. But we can defeat ourselves if the public, for a sustained period, turns against the war and withdraws its support."
As the terrorists sit and watch the coverage of protesters undermining the war, and thus undermining the troops, wouldn't one think that aids and comforts them?
The fact of the matter is the protesters are lining the streets with false ideologies because of their hatred for the president, which leads to the false line that "Bush lied."
During the weekend there was a protest here in Macomb, and the streets were lined with cars that had the pathetic Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers still on.
It makes one wonder how they could ever vote for the man who said in 2003, "If you don't believe ... Saddam Hussein is a threat with nuclear weapons, then you shouldn't vote for me."
Even the left's poster girl, Hillary Clinton, said Hussein has "given aid, comfort and sanctuary to terrorists including al-Qaeda members."
The problem right now is the media only covers the negatives and the president hasn't been out speaking to the American people enough. But he is now back in the public eye selling the war.
Bush recently said, "It's important for the Iraqis to hear this: The United States will not abandon Iraq ... Americans have never retreated in the face of thugs and assassins and we will not begin now."
