The American people must know we aren't fighting a war against a country, but rather a war against an ideology of hate. As democracy is taking place in Iraq, the terrorists are being hurt.
The secular dictatorship of Hussein and the radical Islamic ideology of al-Qaeda cannot beat freedom. When citizens are given the taste of being free, they will fight to keep it.
We are winning the war and we can't cut and run. We must stay until the people of Iraq are strong enough to defend themselves.
The fact is Iraq has been moving forward. It has had democratic elections, hospitals are being built, Iraqi forces are being trained and children are receiving an education.
Najim Abdullah al-Jubouri, Tal Afar mayor, wrote this to Gen. George Casey: "After the major operation, your wonderful soldiers started nursing the wounds of this city by rebuilding the damaged lives and buildings with great compassion and speed. These soldiers have done more than their original mission required of them."
He concluded, "Let America, their families and the world be proud of their sacrifices for humanity and life."
The people of Iraq understand we are helping them and the soldiers, as well as their families, know what they are doing is right.
A Marine officer wrote, "If the Democrats don't stop the nonsense and get it now, I can assure you, al-Qaeda will give it to all of us later."
If we cut and run now our country's security will be seriously damaged. What we are doing in Iraq is making America stronger, safer and more secure. When will the leftists and the cut-and-runners learn this?
