I have a love-hate relationship with television. Especially during sweeps, when networks trot out the biggest guest stars and most scandalous plot twists in order to grab big ratings, which translate to more advertising dollars. (Got that?) And yet somehow despite the sick amount of television I have been consuming since the start of the November sweeps, I still have time for "Friends" reruns. Speaking of, the 10th and final season of "Friends" is now on DVD.
This just in: MTV has officially confirmed its "Laguna Beach" spin-off series, "The Hills," starring Lauren ("LC") as she interns at Teen Vogue in Los Angeles. ("The Devil Wears Prada: Teen Edition" coming soon to a bookstore near you.) "The Hills" will debut in spring or summer of 2006. I honestly do not know if I can wait that long. I love-love "Laguna Beach."
Speaking of tennis (love-love, get it?), Venus and Serena Williams will appear on "ER" (10 p.m., Thursdays, NBC) this week.
RE-CAAAAAPS!
• "The Apprentice"
Dang! Trump does not mess around. Two weeks after the Boardroom Massacre, he fires Brian and Marshawn. I love how she was talking about him in the cab like he was not sitting right next to her. Meanwhile, Capital Edge gets the Worst Reward Ever: "quality time" with Bill Rancic. Rancic's advice to the candidates: "Think outside the box." "Actions speak louder than words." "You gotta make it happen." Thanks Ranic, that is all very helpful. Can we fire him? (9 p.m. Thursdays, NBC)
• "America's Next Top Model"
Tyra pulls a Trump, and then a "Punk'd," and then follows it up with an Oprah: "Both of you must pack your bags tonight ... because we're all going to London! You're going to London! And you and you and you and you!" Does this remind anyone else of "You get a car! And you get a car! Everybody gets a car!" In the meantime, with Kyle gone ("I miss Kyle so much! This house is so lonely for me without her. Boo-hoo!"), Kim is on the prowl. The girls meet former winner Eva. Kim: "Ohmygod, she's so cute. You just wanna ... kiss her." Easy tiger. (8 p.m. Wednesdays, UPN)
• "Veronica Mars"
