Right to bear arms

In the film, Doe said, "Had I been able to have a firearm, I would have been able to stop him."

If America lets gun control activists have their way, stories like these will be more and more prevalent. And there will be stories like Tony Martin's as well, a citizen of England who shot and killed one burglar and wounded the other, protecting himself and his property. Joyce Lee Malcolm, author of the book "Guns and Violence," stated this about Martin: "He was given life imprisonment for killing, 10 years for wounding the second, and one year for having an unregistered shotgun. The burglar who survived got three years in prison, despite being the known havoc gang of burglars, was out after 18 months ... he is now suing Tony Martin for having injured him so that he can no longer work, and he got government assistance."

This is the path that the U.S. is taking because of the anti-gun activists. The American citizens will have to live in fear because they won't be able to defend themselves James Q. Wilson, UCLA professor emeritus, said that the number of defensive uses of firearms is between 2.5 million to 3 million. That's quite a significant number. The most current statistics from the Center for Disease Control shows that the firearm homicide rate is just fewer than 12,000.

George Washington once said, "A free people ought to be arm." And Thomas Jefferson said, "No free man shall ever be debarred from the use of arms."Our Founding Fathers knew what they were talking about. Taking away our rights to own firearms is taking away our rights to freedom. Every American should take that to heart because if we lose our "right to bear arms," we are no longer free.
