I know a lot of people who are considering moving home. A few of my friends just graduated in May and still have not found a job in their field. It is not because they aren't looking, because they are. They are applying to any job that is even remotely close to their field. And they still are unable to get hired. It could be because their resumé does not stick out from the hundreds of other resumés being sent in or it could just be because the economy sucks. Regardless, they still are unemployed. But fear not college graduates, there is help available to make your resume stand out above all the others. For only $16.95, graduate students can purchase John "Buddy" Hobart's "Hire Education: What Every College Grad Should Know About Landing That First Job." This book will help you improve your objective section on your resumé, your interview skills, your follow-up calls and your skill description. The only problem with this is, if everyone goes out and buys this book and uses it, everyone's resumés will be the same. Everyone will know exactly what to do and how to improve their resumé; that just puts them right back where they were - jobless. So what is the answer, then? What should college graduates do? Should they move back home with mom and dad or just suck it up and take any job they can get? Should they throw away everything they worked so hard to achieve all because our economy is unable to supply them with an adequate job? Or maybe they should get unemployment and join the thousands of others in the U.S.
Of course, President Bush might be able to help. Oh, I forgot, he is too busy supervising the war on terrorism to focus on any other problem in the United States.
