Crumbo finishes sixth at Nationals

Western Illinois University track and field star Amber Crumbo left the USA Track and Field Nationals at Stanford University with the sixth best mark in the women's shot put in the United States and the third best of her career.
Crumbo extended the success of her senior season as she threw a 54'02.00" in her event.
After going into the final round of competition in fourth place, Crumbo finished in sixth behind Teri Steer from Team Nike (1st-63'00.00"), Seilala Sua from Team Nike (2nd- 60'08.75"), Kristin Heaston from the Sacramento Track Club (3rd- 57'08.50"), Lisa Griebal from Iowa State University (4th- 54'05.50"), and Cynthia Ademiluyi from the University of Southern California (5th- 54'05.25").
In one year at Western Illinois, Crumbo owns five school records. During the indoor season, she set records in the shot put (54'11.50") and in the weight throw (59'08.25"). Crumbo finished ninth in the nation at the NCAA Indoor Championships at the University of Arkansas in the shot put with a 52'10.00" mark.
Crumbo earned all-American status from the United States Coaches Association for being one of the top eight American finishers.
Crumbo went on to the Last Chance Qualifier at Butler and set the Western Illinois record and a new Mid-Con best in the shot put with a 55'02.00" toss just before finishing 11th in the nation at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships at Louisiana State with a 53'02.25" mark.
She earned all-American honors from the United States Coaches Association for finishing as one of the top eight Americans in her event.
She also owns Western Illinois records in the hammer (179'06.00"), and the discus (168'11.00").
