This is not only a Macomb issue, but a National issue. Somewhere along the line we have have lost our moral compass as well as teaching our youth respect and boundaries. We as a country have rules of law for the greater good of the community. We send our young men and woman to war to fight for our American way of life.… Post the First Comment

In response to D'Angelo Taylor's transcript

D'Angelo - you have some great points. I agree that coming together, listening to and respecting each other are key. I think more opportunities for positive interaction between students & the community (more than just town-hall meetings) would help. If we saw students volunteering, attending churches, participating in civic organizations, etc, more of the community would have a positive opinion.… Post the First Comment

In response to Dave Egler's transcript

My only issue with this is when Mr. Egler talks about there not being much to do in Macomb. While this may be true to an extent, that is not an excuse for the behavior that some students display that is at the root of the problem. I would hope that the majority of students (I would really hope ALL students) checked out WIU and Macomb before making the decision to come to school here and should have known what was and wasn't offered.… Post the First Comment

Letter to the Editor

I feel the article posted in the Courier last week in regards to the BSA Homecoming was very hurtful and disrespectful. Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion but to what extent? If you do not like the choice in music, DO NOT BUY THE TICKET! BSA puts on their Homecoming show to make students who like "that type of music" to have a good time! Only one time a year does the WIU campus have any 'hip hop" events but not every year does BSA bring in hip hop artists.… Post the First Comment

In response to Mick Wisslead's transcript

Way to keep your head in the sand, Mr. Mayor. "McFly! McFly! Anyone home???" I can't believe THIS is the response from the MAYOR of Macomb. Do you not read the police reports in the paper? Have you never spent any time in the NW particularly on weekend nights? Have you ever made the effort to actually talk to the non-student residents of the NW? You think you have a good relationship with the admin of WIU?? That's not what I heard straight from the mouths of the higher admin officials at WIU.… Post the First Comment

Ken- Great article! Now only if the residents of Macomb realized how much students provide for them and that college students will be college students. -Holly Some of this article makes sense, but a major flaw is that Ken is doing the same thing he accuses the city of doing.… Post the First Comment
