Western cadets earn stripes
Nine Western Illinois University Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) cadets were commissioned second lieutenants in the U.S. Army during a May 15 ceremony on Western's campus. Five of the new officers received active duty commissions.

Broadcasting department hosts summer film series
Western Illinois University's broadcasting department will host the annual Summer Film Series, "The Dead Filmmakers Society 2009," beginning today.
All screenings will begin at 7 p.m. in the University Union Sandburg Theatre. The films, hosted by WIU broadcasting Associate Professor Richard Ness, are from Ness' private collection.…
