Shooting threat directed at Western campus
At approximately 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, employees at the Campus Manor apartment complex at Charles and Elting streets discovered a note threatening a Western Illinois University shooting according to several sources.
"We received a call from the Macomb City Police Department … two of our officers went to the apartment (and) retrieved the letter from the complex," said Bob Fitzgerald, director of the Office of Public Safety during a press conference.…

Emergency Alert System gets word out, Web site has difficulties
The new Emergency Alert System worked properly this morning, notifying students that an anonymous threat had been received at an off-campus apartment complex. The message was sent out at 9:35 Wednesday morning.
According to Western Illinois University President Al Goldfarb, the system had been tested prior to today when Macomb was hit by bad weather.…

MACOMB, IL -- The Office of Public Safety (OPS) at Western Illinois University and Macomb Police are investigating a threat regarding a shooting on campus that was received at an off-campus apartment complex sometime overnight.
